We love food. And we really do. Not an empty marketing slogan like that of a large German supermarket chain. And we love food and drink. We dream day and night of rabbits, pigs and lambs cavorting in the pasture, wild boars rolling in the damp forest floor, and crunchy green vegetables that have never seen a plastic sheet
But we're not just dreaming - there's plenty of all that here in the Eifel. We see the region as a big supermarket where we help ourselves as the mood takes us. Meat, vegetables and cheese come from local producers; our cuisine lives in step with the seasons. From these first-class ingredients, chef Recky prepares uncomplicated but high-quality cuisine. He interprets traditional regional dishes in a cosmopolitan way and always refers to the fact that a simple cuisine was once born out of the barren Eifel. There was nothing in abundance, and there was a constant need to make the very most of what little was available. The cuisine in the Eifel Free State is based on this philosophy of "delicious simplicity".
