Burg Hengebach

Burg Hengebach

Heimbach

Hengebach Castle was built in the 11th century on a greywacke rock. It is one of the oldest buildings in the Eifel. Over the centuries, the historic walls have experienced a varied history. Various rulers once lived and ruled at the fortress. The lion of the Jülich counts still adorns the town's coat of arms. The courtyard rooms, battlements and keep are open to the public free of charge all year round. The castle, which is illuminated in the evening, has been home to the "Heimbach/Eifel International Art Academy" since 2009.
