Tagestour: RurUfer-Radweg (Jülich-Heimbach)
Jülich
How different landscapes can be! This becomes particularly clear on the day trip on the RurUfer cycle path from Jülich to Heimbach. The almost 50 kilometers illustrate the change - sometimes man-made, sometimes natural. From Jülich, the cycle path first leads through the fertile Bördeland landscape. Cereals and rapeseed thrive excellently in the fields. The landscape changes in Schopenhoven, where it is characterized by the lignite mine. At the vantage point, the view extends deep into the open-cast mine and the cyclists learn how the mining area will be renaturalized again in the coming years - a landscape made by man. But now the Rur floodplains and the Obermaulbach reservoir beckon, where there is time for a coffee break at Café Flink.
The red sandstone cliffs accompany the cyclists on their cycle tour, accompanied by the water, they pass Abenden - with its half-timbered houses, the town is a picture of how rooted the people are in their region. Pedal by pedal, the e-bike takes you effortlessly towards the Eifel National Park, where nature is allowed to be nature. The route runs along the meandering Rur to Heimbach. From there, the Rur Valley Railway takes cyclists back to their starting point.
We recommend this tour as an e-bike tour
