Eifel-Pilger-Radweg
Großlittgen
Churches and monasteries, wayside crosses and wayside shrines accompany the route; slowing down and mindfulness are the moments of happiness on this cycle tour. The route connects 13 places that still exude spiritual vitality today:
Himmerod Abbey, a 900-year-old Cistercian abbey; the wooded village of Hupperath with its romantic church dedicated to St. Hubertus; the baroque Finten Chapel, standing freely in the countryside with its countless votive plaques; the pilgrimage site of Klausen, still alive today and the destination of many people who venerate Mary as the Mother of God, the Siebenborn monastery farm surrounded by vineyards in a former Moselle bend and much more. It is a one-day journey of discovery in the footsteps of popular piety in the Eifel, which is particularly recommended for leisure cyclists.
The Eifel Pilgrims' Cycle Route is just as easy to reach by car thanks to the ample parking facilities in Himmerod and Klausen as it is by train and bus from Wittlich. There are excellent places to stop for refreshments along the route, six eBike charging stations and two bike repair shops - so carefree cycling fun is guaranteed.
Tips:
If you prefer a particularly comfortable ride, you can hire an e-bike from the Wittlich Stadt & Land tourist information office.
To get back to the starting point of the tour in Himmerod (to Grosslittgen), take the MaareMosel cycle bus (line 300) (Bernkastel-Kues via Wittlich main station, Grosslittgen, Manderscheid to Daun). From Maring-Noviand, follow the Maare-Mosel cycle path to Bernkastel-Kues. Bicycle transport must be booked in advance. It is possible to take electric bikes with you.
