Lake Freilingen, embedded in the beautiful landscape of the Eifel, offers relaxation, cooling and fun in the midst of the local nature - and all this with the highest water quality.
Activities on Lake Freilingen Visitors to Lake Freilingen can find everything their heart desires in their free time and can pursue a wide variety of activities on and in the water: windsurfing, diving, rowing, paddling, swimming (at your own risk), fishing for perch, pike or roach (fishing permits are available at the reception) and hiking are all possible.
Around the lake there are spacious sunbathing lawns where locals and tourists can relax with a sunbath or picnic. A Nordic Walking trail signposted with information boards offers a pleasant walking route for fans of this sport.
Also grill friends do not come too briefly: 2 grill plants (one somewhat larger, the approx. 100 persons and a smaller one, which can accommodate approx. 50 persons) with electricity and water connection as well as a total of 3 swivel grills can be rented from the municipality of Blankenheim.
The Eifel-Camp, situated directly at the lake, offers overnight accommodations for camping holidays.
Tip for holidays with dogs: There is a fenced off dog beach at the Freilinger See.
Data, facts and location: Lake Freilingen is located south-east of Blankenheim on the border between North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate in a valley and is surrounded by extensive forests and meadows. The Freilinger See is a reservoir that has existed since 1976 and is fed with fresh spring water. It was built for rainwater retention and tourist use. Its water surface comprises approximately 11h and its catchment area about 5 km². The dam is 25 m high and about 500 metres long. The greatest depth of the lake is about 10 m.
