Geeser Drees
Gerolstein
In Gees, a spring with a very unique mineralisation bubbles up in a sandstone enclosure. The Geeser Drees is an iron-rich spring, which is easily recognised by the fact that the water outlets and the spring pot are coated with rust-red iron oxides and hydroxides. The spring is freely accessible and can be tasted. As in many villages in the Volcanic Eifel, the mineral water from the spring was once used as a leavening agent in baking.
