Gemünden maar nature pool
Daun
The 30,000-year-old Gemündener Maar, the northernmost and smallest of the three Daun Maars, is picturesquely located in the Eifel, just 1.5 km south of Daun. The maar lake is approximately 325 meters long, 300 meters wide, and covers an area of about 7.2 hectares.
For diving enthusiasts, the natural swimming pool offers a 1-meter board and a diving tower with various heights (2 x 3.0 m, 5.0 m, and 7.5 m). The water depth under the tower is about 4 meters and increases significantly towards the center of the maar. Other attractions include a small climbing wall, a non-swimmer pool (10 m x 10 m, up to 1.35 m deep), a baby pool, a sandbox, and a bathing island outside the designated area.
For people with physical disabilities, a water lift, a wheelchair-accessible shower, and a toilet are available.

Unfortunately, the use of watercraft of any kind, such as stand-up paddles (SUPs) or other flotation devices, is not permitted on the Daun Maars and the Pulvermaar by order of the Lower Nature Conservation Authority of the Vulkaneifel District. Exceptions are the municipality's own pedal boats and rowing boats.
