Germanenbrücke
Manderscheid
The Germanenbrücke (Germanic Bridge) over the Kleine Kyll is a way to cross the Kleine Kyll and an integral part of the hiking trail "Achtsamkeitspfad Kleine Kyll. The bridge had to be renovated again in 2015 because the snow load caused several trees to collapse onto the bridge in winter. This made it impassable for the time being. So the only thing left for the district forester to do was to rebuild it.
Then came the flood in July 2021 and the bridge was destroyed again. The reconstruction was already completed in October and the bridge could be reopened.
Many hikers cross the important link to the Wolf Gorge between Bettenfeld and Manderscheid. The unique landscape here is a centre of attraction, and yet it radiates a peace and power that every hiker becomes aware of when crossing.
The Germanic Bridge is Mindfulness Point 4 and stands for inspiration. On site you will find a plaque with a detailed explanation.
