The "Haus der Stadt", opened on September 30, 1991, is a multipurpose cultural building. The building complex, designed by Düsseldorf architects Christoph and Brigitte Parade, includes the municipal library, the municipal and district archives, the Multi Kulti youth center of the Protestant community, the Düren-Nord community center, conference rooms and a technically generously equipped theater hall that seats 611 people.
On the large stage, equipped with modern stage and lighting technology and good acoustics, performances from the areas of opera, operetta, ballet, drama and concert take place. The program includes about 100 performances a year.
