Heimatmuseum "Christinas Stuben"
Polch
The “Christina's Stube” museum takes visitors back to the time around 1900, when the good lounges were the only heated rooms in the house and people slept in the (often ice-cold) rooms. On the first floor of the completely original Eifel quarry stone house from the Biedermeier period, for example, a double bed allows you to think about the space required at that time: two people slept on 110 by 170 centimeters! Whoever goes through a connecting passage into the former barn, which has been converted into a residential building, can marvel at dollhouses from the period from 1880 to 1930, valuable pieces from the famous Thuringian doll factories and handmade artist dolls from well-known dollmakers. In the extension itself, the former home of the Ackermanns, a gallery was set up next to the foundation administration. On the one hand you can see pictures by Gisela Ackermann-Minwegen, on the other the exhibitions of young artists alternate. There is also a library with books from all scientific and literary areas from two centuries and a room for events relating to art and culture. A path to the local history museum has also been created from the Maifeld cycle path. Cyclists and walkers can take the old railway line to Bienengarten 6, where they can enjoy the museum, gallery and the romantic museum garden. Admission is free. A donation pot is available, the content of which is used exclusively for the maintenance of the facility.
