The Chalk Eifel cycle route

Ahrdorf

The cycle route runs through the Ahbach valley to connect the Kyll and Ahl cycle routes. The tour leads to a part of the Eifel which has been dominated by chalk quarrying since the Roman times, and which has many different attractions to offer. Highlights on the Eifel cycle route are the European model town of Hillesheim, Burg Kerpen castle, the Kloster Niederehe monastery and the “growing” waterfall at Dreimühlen. On forest paths and on a disused railway track almost throughout, it crosses the water divide between the Ahr and Moselle basins without steep inclines. Combined with the Ahr, Moselle, Kyll and Rhine cycle routes, shorter and longer circular trips are possible between the Ahr, Rhine, Moselle and Kyll rivers.

Growing waterfall Dreimühlen

The Dreimühlen waterfall is probably the most interesting waterfall in the Eifel. It was formed from limestone deposits of three spring tributaries of the Ahbach. Due to the constant deposition, the sinter bank is constantly "growing", which is where the name "growing waterfall" comes from. Details ansehen

Museumsbahnhof Ahütte

Welcome to the village station of the 20th century. The accommodation in the cultural monument "historical station Üxheim-Ahütte" is a museum station that opened in 2023, exactly 50 years after the cessation of railway operations. Here, time has literally stood still, as if the last passenger just departed, the last ticket was sold, and the last cargo was loaded. The station can now be experienced in its original form, just as it was during the days of railway operation.

Various guest rooms are available in the former service areas, some with historical furnishings and reconstructed original wall colors. However, they are equipped with the comforts of today: All rooms include a shower/WC (new from 2023), TV, and Wi-Fi. For those who prefer older media, there is also a wealth of railway literature from long-gone railway times.

In the former service rooms, the guests' culinary needs are catered to today. The specialty of our station gastronomy is pancakes as well as homemade cakes & tarts. Common areas in the station gastronomy can be made available for guests during operating hours upon request (no private beverages & food allowed. Sale of beverages & food by station staff).

As leisure activities, the crime puzzle "The Disappearing Suitcase" and/or a crime role-playing game with dinner can also be booked upon request. Various program offerings are available for railway enthusiasts. For more information, visit www.bahnhofsleben.de

Numerous cultural events are also offered for participation at the museum station. The complete program, information & prices can be found in the "Timetable" at www.bahnhofsleben.de

The museum station Ahütte is also a seminar location with systemic coaching and health prevention courses in stress management and resilience development, as well as relaxation exercises.

All events are conducted exclusively in German.
