Papiermuseum Düren
Düren
Like a folded sheet of paper, the new Papiermuseum Düren appears right next to the Leopold-Hoesch-Museum in the urban space. The museum, which was reopened in 2018 after a comprehensive redesign and fundamental architectural expansion, is dedicated to paper, a material whose production and processing has a centuries-old tradition in Düren. In addition to the architecture, Cologne based architect Klaus Hollenbeck, together with curator Caroline Kaiser, also developed the interactive design of the interior: various stations make the exhibition digitally, haptically and audibly experienceable, especially for people with visual impairments. Paper Art and the latest developments in the field of paper are also presented. The traditional paper making (Sundays, 1 – 4 pm) rounds off the museum visit.
