"Peinloch" Ulmen
Ulmen
Experience Point No. 6 on the "Hexen, Henker & Halunken" hike takes you to another historical site of disgrace.
The current name "Beim Peinloch" suggests that this place was once used for painful punishments. A terrain map from 1810 shows a water hole here, which may have been used for so-called "trials by ordeal," where witches and other condemned individuals had to prove their innocence through the "water test." The dark tales of witchcraft and brutal justice give this spot an eerie aura.
From here, however, you can return to the present, enjoy Ulmen's most beautiful panorama, and continue hiking through 3 more kilometers of stunning nature.
