Peter-Zirbes-Kulturkreis
Wittlich
The Kulturkreis is an open working group for all people who are interested in local cultural assets and would like to contribute to various activities and projects. A relatively small permanent "tribe" of volunteers has been meeting regularly for over 30 years to discuss, prepare and plan joint projects. Naturally, from the very beginning, one of the most important tasks of the working group has been to deal with Peter Zirbes' life's work and to preserve his poetic legacy. In this way, the work of the Eifel poet, who was born in 1825 and died in November 1901, is kept alive in many different ways. The spectrum of activities and projects of the cultural group is manifold and goes beyond the occupation with Peter Zirbes. From the documentation of wayside crosses and chapels to advice on restoration, from lectures to multi-part hikes and theme-oriented excursions. Dialect evenings as well as scenic readings and lectures are from the very beginning part of the work, which takes place every two years in the context of the Wittlich-Land Cultural Days, among others.
