Aueler Drees - Steffeln
Steffeln
The Aueler Drees is a natural mineral spring with CO2-containing water with a very high content of iron and manganese. A great opportunity to experience the fresh water of a mineral spring in the wild.
"Drees" is derived from the Celtic "draisen", which means "to flow". The Dreese is one of the last mineral springs in Germany.
Below the Eichholzmaares you will find the mineral spring in the Bachtal area. The Aueler Drees can be reached in a few minutes on foot via the volcanic path from the Eichholzmaar. The mineral springs extract CO2-containing water, which has a high content of iron and manganese. This makes the reddish discoloration visible at the spring basin.
