Türmchen - das Wittlicher HisTörchen
Wittlich
In the Wittlicher Türmchen, the living situation of the medieval tower with living and sleeping room is simulated on a few square meters. In addition, the HisTörchen also houses other selected historical exhibits, such as two takedown plates and a cannon originating from Philippsfreude Castle. The sound system installed in the entrance area transports further interesting information about the former fortification. On the upper floor you can see graphics with motifs from the city, which were created between 1946 and 1949 by the artist Hedwig Schulze. The 12-minute film "Türmchen - das Wittlicher HisTörchen", which was developed and designed according to an idea by Mayor Joachim Rodenkirch and the head of the Cultural Office of the City of Wittlich, Elke Scheid, provides information on the history of the city. It is particularly worth mentioning that the soundtrack and creation of the film was realised by young Wittlich companies and that the narrator is the actor Manuel Klein, who was born in Wittlich. The informative animated film is aimed at children from 6 years and adults. For safety and space reasons, only 6 adults can visit the museum at the same time. The key is available at the Old Town Hall, Neustrasse 2, Wittlich. The entrance fee is € 1,--.
