CYCLING IN THE EIFEL: GET ON YOUR BIKE AND PEDAL OFF

Cycle routes along disused railway lines

CYCLING AS THOUGH YOU’RE ON RAILS

In the Eifel, viaducts many metres high bridge deep valleys, while illuminated tunnels cross through the mountains and every so often the sides of the routes are decorated with sculptures. Where steam engines once puffed along the tracks, cyclists can now enjoy touring through fascinating scenic panoramas in the Eifel, with comfortable routes far away from road traffic. The cycle paths are asphalt-covered almost throughout, with a standard width of 2.5 meters, and in most cases with ascents of less than 2.5 percent.
The dense network of railway track routes guarantee a great cycling experience in the heart of the natural landscape for families with children and cyclists looking for a more leisurely tour. The beauty of the Eifel can be experienced in an active and relaxed way, with routes passing the maars of the Volcanic Eifel, the fairytale rock landscapes in the South Eifel National Park, the view over the border to our neighbours in eastern Belgium and Luxembourg, and a wealth of cultural and natural treasures.
