The tour takes its name from the "Green Hell", one of the impressive rock formations in the southern Eifel. Many large and small crevices were formed at the end of the last ice age. Hardly a ray of sunshine illuminates the Green Hell. It is so green because the sandstone absorbs water like a sponge - ideal conditions for moss, algae and lichen.
Other curious rock formations along the way include the Predigtstuhl, the Affenkopf and the Eulenhorst. From the Lingelslay, a rocky outcrop, you have a beautiful view of Bollendorf and the Sûre valley.
