Bitburger LandGang- St. Thomaser Klosterrunde - Circuit around St. Thomas
Sankt Thomas
Hiking in the footsteps of the Cistercians - the approximately 6.9 km circular trail leads around the small village of St. Thomas.
The silence and seclusion of the Kyll valley is what makes St. Thomas so appealing.
The small village in the Kyllburger Waldeifel owes its name to the former monastery of St. Thomas.
The oldest Cistercian monastery in Germany was founded around 1185 in the beautiful Kyll valley. A fire in 1742 destroyed the entire abbey, only the church remained.
The former monastery is the ideal place to come to yourself. Right at the beginning, the path leads you through a romantic garden of the monastery, which invites you to pause. Take your time on this hike.
Come to rest and forget everyday life away from noise and hectic. In the midst of the magnificent nature of the Kyll valley, you will discover beautiful wide views over the Kyll valley between a lot of forest.
Highlights along the way:
- Monastery "St. Thomas "
- Pilgrim stone of the St. Mathias brotherhood Gelsenkirchen-Schlesen from 1623.
Our tip:
