Start your hike at the parking lot between Waldkönigen and Hinterweiler, where you can enjoy an impressive view of the picturesque volcanic landscape. On the HeimatSpur Ernstberg panoramic trail, you hike along the edge of the charming Eifel villages of Hinterweiler and Kirchweiler. The majestic Ernstberg, the second highest mountain in the Eifel after the Hohe Acht, soon catches your eye.
Look forward to unforgettable panoramic views! The Ernstberg stratovolcano impresses with its striking basalt and lava rock formations and rustic beech forests. In May and June, the landscape is transformed into a sea of white or purple blooming moon violets, making your hike an enchanting nature experience. The plant is a protected species here and may not be picked.
The spectacular views along the trail are the heart of this route.
