Heimatspur Ritter-Räuber-Römer
Bad Bertrich
The elf grotto, two waterfalls, the wild Uessbach valley and a mountain cliff with great views are the highlights of the 6-kilometre hiking trail near Bad Bertrich in the Volcanic Eifel. Much of the hiking route runs along narrow riverside paths and rocky climbs. The babbling of the Uessbach stream is a constant companion.
The knight in the name refers to the Entersburg castle, of which only the spectacular location remains today. In the 18th century, gangs of robbers wreaked havoc in the woods and even the Romans appreciated the benefits of the thermal springs in the area.
The hiking trail is family-friendly and the Ritter-Räuber-Römer HeimatSpur (Knights-Robbers-Romans home trail) ensures relaxed hiking enjoyment with little elevation gain.
