Kratertour - Rundwanderweg in Boos/ Eifel
Boos
The crater tour around the Booser Doppelmaar takes hikers into the world of volcanoes.
The starting point is the parking lot at the Booser Doppelmaar volcano park station on the L94/ Booser Doppelmaar tour dream trail portal.
From here, the approximately 4.5 km long circular tour leads around the Boos maars - which owe their formation to the explosive collision of rising hot magma and water - to the 25 m high Boos Eiffel Tower (currently closed) on the Schneeberg (557 m).
Along the way, there are information boards on agriculture and forestry, volcanism and the local flora and fauna.
The trail is marked with a logo depicting the two maars: a dry maar and the man-made "Booser Weiher" pond.
The hiking trail can also be reached from the youth center in the middle of the village - on the corner of Hauptstraße and Schulstraße. Here you can take a detour to the water treading pool and the herb garden near the elementary school.
Directly opposite the youth center is the Eifelhotel Fuchs, a refreshment stop for hungry hikers.
Please download the gpx track and the map of the trail in advance, as the signposting can be patchy in some areas.
Only stay on the marked paths.
Particularly in the fall, be aware that leaves lying on the ground can hide bumps, roots, etc. on the trail.
