Lieserpfad Etappe 3
Manderscheid
Climbing heights and roaming valleys - hiking on the Lieserpfad from Manderscheid to Wittlich
One last look at the upper and lower castles of Manderscheid and the hiking adventure in the Eifel begins: the third stage of the Lieser Trail is a tough one, but at the end there is the good feeling of having achieved something, the efforts are worthwhile, the impressions are lasting memories of a good time. The trail follows narrow paths into the middle of the dense forest, with the Lieser flowing merrily towards the Moselle. The slate cliffs rise up steeply, formed over thousands of years by wind and rain. Climbing meter by meter, finding your own rhythm step by step as you hike.
At the top, the reward for the effort awaits: spectacular views of the valleys, the castle pond, over the treetops. The feeling of being on the edge of a cliff in the Robertskanzel refuge, the Burberg nature experience hut offers a view of the forests. And again and again this feeling: I've done it, I've mastered the challenge. The refreshments I brought with me during the breaks in the mountain huts taste even better. The ascents are followed by descents into the valley, back to the Lieser, which greets the hikers cheerfully and refreshes hands and feet with its cool water.
Tip: In an old farmhouse in Manderscheid, it is worth making a detour to the well-known Moll candle factory at the start of the tour. The Eifel lava candles, which are made exclusively from local materials, are a special souvenir.
