Nette-Natur-Weg
Weißenthurm
Directions from Weißenthrum to Mayen
From Weißenthurm station, follow the markings of the Nette Nature Trail northwards, under the railroad tracks to the main road (old B9), then left to the traffic lights. After crossing the road, turn right until you reach the Nette, which you then follow uphill. After the underpass and along the B9, continue parallel to the Nette to the eastern edge of Andernach-Miesenheim. You cross the Nette and reach Plaidt between it and the millrace of the Rauschermühle (refreshment stop). You follow the path through the Rauschermühle and Nettepark on the edge of the town, which is well worth seeing. The route continues uphill under the bridge of the Plaidt bypass, later also under the A61 (parking lot), straight on to the impressive Wernerseck castle ruins, which are well worth a visit. From there, the trail descends slightly to the Heselermühle mill (refreshment stop open at times). After a further approx. 900 m (refuge), switch to the left-hand side of the stream and then follow the natural paths to the K 52, which you follow for approx. 400 m to the junction on the right to Korbsmühle. (For a refreshment stop or overnight stay, take a detour (approx. 800 m) to Ochtendung ); (return on the same route). Pass the Korbsmühle and Flocksmühle, cross the L 98 (bus stop) and continue up the Nettetal valley. You will pass a barbecue hut with parking lot, the Oberwertsmühle and another barbecue hut at the Ruitschermühle. Here the path briefly turns right towards Polch-Ruitsch, following the slope path up the valley past a refuge to the Nettemühle mill, after which you switch to the left-hand side of the stream to the Welling junction (for a refreshment stop or overnight stay, there is a stop at the Welling junction).(A detour to Welling is a good idea for a stop for refreshments or an overnight stay), you reach Trimbs on the edge of the Horley nature reserve, later passing a barbecue hut (refreshments open at times). open at times). You walk through the village, staying in the Nette valley, past the Nettehof, and behind it on the right-hand side of the stream, past the waterfall; first along the Nette then on the slope path that leads you to the Kirchershof, where you cross the Nette again. Behind the farm, turn left, in front of the mighty slate heaps on the Katzenberg along the fence and on the footpath under the B258 to the Triaccaweg at the entrance to Mayen , continue in the town area to the bridge gate and Marktstraße to the finish at the market square with the old town hall, Genoveva Castle, Eifel Museum and German slate mine).
