On the Pellenzer Seepfad dream trail in the Eifel , the wall of ash left behind by the Laacher See volcano 13,000 years ago builds up impressively in front of the hiker. The hiking tour continues through dense mixed forest to the Krufter Waldsee lake and then, along a rocky niche, up to the "Teufelskanzel" rocky outcrop. The trail descends through a beautiful beech forest to Lake Laach. Passing bubbling "mofettes", the path leads uphill again to the Ahrefeld refuge.
Over the next few kilometers, hikers can enjoy wonderful views of the Pellenz and the peaks of the Siebengebirge.
