Gourmet hike:

At 11:00 AM, the gourmet hike starts with a rustic breakfast/brunch in the cozy ambiance of the Engeln train station. Energized, the hiking group then makes its way to the festival grounds. Along the way, hikers can enjoy a drink stop, where various wines will be offered alongside non-alcoholic beverages. Beautiful views of the stunning Eifel landscape invite you to pause before the hike continues to the next stage. The destination is the festival grounds at the multifunctional hall Spessart. Here, hikers can take a break with coffee and cake and fully enjoy the festival program until it’s time to return to the starting point of the hike, the Engeln train station. 

Duration of the hike: approx. 4 hours, approx. 12 km

Family hike to the Steinrausch adventure forest

A hiking experience for big and small hiking fans is the family hike to the Steinrausch adventure forest. It starts at 11:00 AM at the festival grounds at the multifunctional hall Spessart. A stretch of the Eifelleiter leads to the Steinrausch adventure forest. There, little and big explorers can playfully learn everything important about the animals and plants of the forest or volcanism during the tour. A visit to the fantastic adventure playground rounds off the hike before heading back to the festival grounds.

Hike on the loop tour from Engeln train station

For all hiking enthusiasts, the hike on the loop tour “Engeln train station” is a great option. At 11:00 AM, the guided tour starts at the festival grounds at the multifunctional hall Spessart and follows the classic Eifelleiter access round tour to the Engeln train station and back. During the hike there will be interesting facts about Eifel volcanism and the formation of the magnificent volcanic landscape. Along the way, hikers will be welcomed with a drink stop, where various wines will be offered alongside non-alcoholic beverages.

Duration of the hike: approx. 4 hours (including a drink stop), approx. 12.5 km

Cost: €5.00 per person including wine or non-alcoholic beverages at the drink stand

Program at the festival grounds:

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Eifelleiter, a large anniversary festival will be held. A varied program is planned, offering entertainment for the whole family.

At the festival, Falconry Dippel from Ochtendung will present a demonstration where visitors can admire birds of prey up close. Visitors will gain exciting insights into the art of falconry and can even take photos with the birds.

Additionally, Michael Remmert will provide special entertainment as a stilt walker and balloon artist, thrilling the audience with impressive performances as a wanderer. Live music will create a lively atmosphere.

Another highlight is the beloved mascot of the Vulkanregion Laacher See, Laachus, with whom visitors can take memorable photos. Children will also have access to face painting, a playmobil, and a small carousel.

Food and drink will also be taken care of: The Spessart sports club will handle catering and offer a selection of food and beverages, including coffee, cake, and fries.

Furthermore, information stands will inform visitors about various options in the region related to tourism and hiking.

The anniversary festival promises to be a special experience for nature lovers, hiking enthusiasts, and families. Of course, an official part is also included. On the occasion of the anniversary, the mayors of the municipalities of Adenau, Bad Breisig, and Brohltal will address welcome words to the visitors.
