It is said that every second marriage in the region was arranged here: until its closure in 1979, the Sterngarten, Mayen's best-known dance hall, was not only the region's top party location, but also a place where political events took place at close quarters. Well-known bands played here, legendary parties took place here, the German armed forces tested their recruits here, well-known politicians faced their voters here... And all this under the watchful eye of the region's most iconic landlord! The Sterngarten was everything: garden pub, town hall, officers' mess, party hell, hotel - and above all, always a place of longing! Following the great success of the previous production “Der Zuckertoni”, the Burgfestspiele's Citizens' Theater is once again setting out to explore a piece of Mayen's contemporary history. In addition to researching archives, the internet and their own documents, the members also asked people in the region for their memories and anecdotes about the Sterngarten. The result is a wild journey through eight decades and their dance styles, spiced up with plenty of local color, singing and a genuine Mayen way of life.
