The water of the Eifel: Maars, Dreese, mineral waters. The role of water for nature and people. Why is the water in the Eifel special? Rain and dew, streams and rivers are no different than anywhere else. But the maars - witnesses of a fiery hot past! And the Dreese, geysers and mofettes, where cold gases rise to the surface in the water and still hint at the volcanic forces. The hot waters were already loved by the Romans in Aachen and Bad Bertrich. The Roman citizens of Cologne already fetched their drinking water here. But it was not until the last century that the mineral waters of the volcanic Eifel became really famous and are now the most popular export. The various waters - those of the Maare, the Dreese, the mineral springs - will be presented and tasted in a relaxed atmosphere, from tap water to "Eifel Champagne". A small lecture in a cosy room, regardless of the weather, with a short introduction to geology and historical anecdotes, plus the tasting of at least five Eifel waters. Prerequisites for this relaxed lecture are water & a thirst for knowledge and a good mood... Afterwards, you can take a detour to the nearby Pulvermaar, a nice walk in the evening sun (a good 2.5 km).
