From cold to hot volcano(ism)

A guided walk from Pulvermaar to Römerberg.
The Volcanic Eifel has two different types of volcanoes to offer. Which ones do you know? The "normal" ones, Etna type, with their lava eruptions and lava flows? The second type, the Maar volcanoes with their "cold" volcanism, on the other hand, is unknown. Yet nowhere else are there so many maars as between Daun and Manderscheid. Right in the middle is the Pulvermaar, the picture-book maar, the largest "eye of the Eifel", exemplary for the "cold" formation of this lake. Only a few hundred metres away is the Römerberg, built of lava, and behind it the Strohner Määrchen with its unique high moor. From there we enjoy the view of the Wartgesberg, the "hottest" volcano in the region. What distinguishes these volcanoes? How different are their legacies in the landscape? What benefits, what dangers do they bring to the Eifel in the past and today? During the walk there is enough time for these and other questions you always wanted to ask. It starts on the crater wall of the Pulvermaar, leads down to the lake, up again and then to the Römerberg (max. 4 km).
All ages are welcome. No previous knowledge is required. A magnifying glass is helpful for a closer look at the volcanic rock. Suitable for all ages.
