Hocheifelweg 3. Etappe Hillesehim - Niederehe mit dem Eifelverein Gerolstein

We explore the 3rd stage from Hillesheim to Niederehe. The 11 km long tour is considered easy. We start in Hillesheim and reach the Schwedenschanze. After a short break, we continue through Berndorf and Kerpen to Niederehe. A visit to the monastery church is worthwhile before we conclude the hiking day with a rest. The ride to/from Gerolstein costs 3 € per person. Auf den Spuren der Eisenbahn mit dem Eifelverein Gerolstein

The 10 km hike leads from Gerolstein to Hillesheim along the former railway track. On July 1, 1912, the era of the stagecoach came to an end with the commissioning of the railway line. After destruction in World War II, the line was decommissioned. Helmut Bell from the Jünkerath railway enthusiasts explains the history along the way.
