Malberg
Public guided tour in German language in Malberg Castle
The unique Malberg Castle complex consists of the so-called New House, the Old House, the Arcade Building, the Brewery and the Chapel. Furthermore, the "Iron Garden" and the "Round Garden" belong to the castle, which is situated on a mountain spur.
The Malberg Castle goes back to a castle mentioned as early as in 1008. Nothing has been preserved of the medieval building. In 1681 the Veyder family took over the castle and from 1708 to 1715 Matteo Alberti, an architect from Venice, had it expanded into a castle in the Venetian Baroque style. The representative buildings contain stucco ceilings and wooden paneling as well as tapestries and old furniture. A unique feature is a painted wall covering with hunting scenes. In the former chapel you can get married in a civil ceremony.
