Duo Aust, featuring siblings Bettina and Robert Aust, is one of the world's leading ensembles for clarinet and piano. In 2016, the duo released their first CD together on the GENUIN label, which was highly praised by the specialist press. In 2021, the second CD entitled ‘Fin de Siècle’ was released, which was nominated for the German Record Critics' Award. One of the duo's main focuses is on intercultural music projects.
Duo Aust has a special relationship with the Goethe Institute and the German Foreign Office, with whose cooperation the duo has given concerts and masterclasses in Finland, France, Pakistan, Algeria, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador and Haiti. Bettina Aust is a winner of the Opus Klassik 2023 and the 2022 Augsburg City Prize for the Arts. A first prize at the 2015 German Music Competition paved the way for her career as a successful soloist and chamber musician. Bettina Aust was principal clarinettist of the Gewandhaus Orchestra and the Augsburg Philharmonic Orchestra for ten years. She is a passionate teacher and studied with Sabine Meyer (Lübeck), Johannes Peitz (Hanover) and Pascal Moraguès (Paris).
Robert Aust is a lecturer at the Düsseldorf University of Music and at the vocational school for music in Sulzbach-Rosenberg. After winning an award at the German Music Competition in 2012, music projects abroad have become an integral part of his musical work. In 2023, for example, he was a guest lecturer in Mexico City for three months and played several concerts with local musicians in Tanzania in 2024. He received his piano training from Matthias Kirschnereit (Rostock) and Heidi Köhler (Hanover).
